KLM flies more than 23 million passengers to 90 destinations in Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe every year. The airline’s headquarters are in Amsterdam and has more than 30 000 employees. KLM operates a daily service to both Johannesburg and Cape Town from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The airline also uses their code share agreement with Kulula to connect travellers from Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth to Amsterdam via Johannesburg.
Currently, KLM has a fleet of 115 aircraft, of which the majority are Boeing 737-800’s, Boeing 737-700’s and Boeing 747-400M’s. The airline uses Boeing 747-400s to fly to and from South Africa.
Economy class passengers are allowed to carry one piece of baggage on board that is allowed to weigh up to 12kg. Business class passengers are allowed to pieces of carry-on baggage but the combined weigh is not allowed to be more than 18 kg in total.
KLM allows passengers in economy class a maximum of 20kg checked baggage. Business class passengers are allowed 30kg.
Online check in opens 24 hours and closes 1 hour prior to departure. Passengers who decide to check in at the airport are requested to check in at least two hours before departure.
KLM passengers can book flights in either economy or business class from South Africa.
KLM allow small cats and dogs to be taken into the cabin. Larger pets will need to be checked in and flown in the cargo hold.
