| Victoria, Seychelles This port city is the capital of the Republic of Seychelles, an archipelago comprising 115 islands in the Indian Ocean. Most of the Seychelles is built on polders and Victoria, which is located on the island of Mahé, is no exception to this. The French had settled the island in the late 17th century but the Brits gained control eventually and named the capital after their queen. Victoria is both the business and cultural hub of the Seychelles. Seychellois are a mix of French, African, Chinese, Indian and Arab and they speak Creole, English, and French. Location The Seychelles is situated in east Africa, northeast of Madagascar. The Seychelles International Airport is in Victoria so visitors can fly there from nearly anywhere. It is perhaps one of the few remaining paradises on earth, which could make it perfect for your next vacation.
