Mango Airlines - SA's First Budget Airline

Mango Airlines was conceived on 30 October 2006, and became known as the first true low cost airline in South Africa. Mango's first flight departed on the 15 November 2006. Mango is a firm favourite for people wanting to fly in comfort, but at a reasonable price. Mango is a low cost airline based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and is owned by South African Airways. It operates domestic scheduled budget services. Its main base is OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.

For many, Mango is definitely the people's choice of airline, launching many specials to appeal to the average traveler. These specials included the popular R1 fare, as well as a bustling daily lunchtime Happy Hour session during the month of June. Since its inception, Mango has become a firm favourite with the travelers of South Africa across all races, ages, and income brackets.

Mango Airlines was started after executives at South African Airways felt the need to launch their own low-cost domestic carrier to cater for the more budget conscious traveler. Mango was so popular that within hours of launching online, the website crashed due to an overflow of traffic. This is because Mango introduced flight tickets at a starting price of an astonishing R169.

Currently, Mango boasts an impressive fleet of 4 eco friendly, new generation Boeing 737-800's, which flies between Johannesburg and Cape Town, Durban and Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban, and Bloemfontein and Cape Town.

Mango Airline operates services to the following destinations:
  • Johannesburg
  • Cape Town
  • Durban
  • Bloemfontein
