Qantas Airways Limited, or Qantas for short, is the national airline of Australia and nicknamed 'The Flying Kangaroo'. Originally spelt QANTAS, and acronym for Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services, the airline is based in Sydney, with its main hub at Sydney Airport.
Qantas is Australia's largest airport, and the second oldest continuously operating airport in the world. In 2008, Qantas was voted the third best airline in the world, with Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific taking first and second honours respectively.
Qantas Airways Limited Checking In
For domestic travel, travellers are requested to check in 45 minutes before scheduled departure. For international travel, travellers are requested to check 60 minutes prior to take off. Mobile and online check in allows travellers to check in between 24 hours and 45 minutes before your departure.

You can bring both carry-on luggage up to 7kgs and checked baggage up to 20kgs for no extra charge. All carry-on luggages must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.
Qantas Airways Limited Seating Options
Seat selection is complimentary on domestic flights and for eligible customers, such as Silver, Gold and Platinum Frequent Flyers. Seat selection costs $20 per sector on international flights. If you would prefer extra leg room, exit row seats may be requested by all customers in economy.

Qantas has received numerous awards and accolades since its privatisation in 1993, and has since then been one of the most profitable airlines in the world. It was also recently voted the third best airline in the world in the 2008 World Airlines Awards, preceded only by Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific. The airline has also received awards for Best First Class Lounge, Best Airlines Australasia, Best Economy Class Onboard catering and Best Regional Airline Australasia.
