Mango Airlines

Mago is considered South Africa's most affordable airline. The airlines have received international and local travel awards such as the "Africa's Best Budget Airline" and the "PRISM award" for the top of the Travel and Tourism category.

Checking In at Mango

Mango checking in is a ticketless travel system. You will need to have a printout of your itinerary receipt and valid photo identification like your ID book, your passport or a valid driver’s license.

Instead of tickets, travellers are issued boarding passes to go through airport security and to the boarding gates. The recommended check-in time is between 1 1/2 hrs and 2 hrs prior to departure. Acceptance of baggage ends 40 minutes prior to departure. The gates close 30 minutes prior to check-in.

Seating on a Mango plane

Mango does not offer pre-seating as seating is assigned at time of airport check-in prior to flight departure. Parents travelling with children or elderly persons may not sit on the seats with 'exit' marked on the headrest. Mango Airlines make every effort to seat groups and families together whenever possible.

Mango operates eco friendly Boeing B737-800 aircrafts on all routes. Aircrafts seat 186 guests. Each row has three adjacent seats on either side of the centre aisle. Seating will be assigned at time of airport check-in prior to flight departure, or online check-in or the Self Service Check-in.

Elderly persons, passengers who require assistance, Infants and children less than 16 years, are not permitted to sit in emergency exit rows.

Infants pay a R75 fixed fare plus 14% vat & R12 Civil Aviation Aircraft Passenger Safety Charge per sector. Infants may sit on an adults lap if they are older than 7 days and younger than 24 months. Passengers travelling with lap children will not be seated in emergency exit rows.

Carry On Luggage

Mango Airlines carry-on baggage is limited to one bag per person, which may not exceed seven kilograms. A passenger may carry aboard personal items like a handbag, pocketbook, overcoat, wrap, umbrella, walking stick, camera, binoculars and reading material for the flight.

Checked Baggage

Mango travellers are allowed a maximum of 20 kilograms of checked baggage.  Mango Plus guests have a generous 30 kg baggage allowance. Additional baggage over this allowance will cost R25 per kilo. No single piece of luggage exceeding 32kg will be accepted for carriage.

Infant's baggage

Infants are entitled to one free checked in baggage weighing up to 10kg. In addition to this, a collapsible pushchair and a child car seat is also allowed onboard at no additional cost.

Other baggage

If you are travelling with special luggage like for example a bicycle, you must disassemble and pack it in a hard or soft case. You are also required to check-in no later than 90 minutes prior to departure.
