Fly with Airlink
South African Airlink is privately owned. The airline operates as a franchisee of South African Airways. The airline has developed into South Africa's first feeder network. It is specifically aimed at linking smaller towns, regional centres and hubs throughout South Africa. Airlink successfully completed the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and were placed on the IATA Register on 6 February 2008. Their passenger profile represents 30% leisure and 70% business. Airlink carries over 80 000 passengers every month.
- 13.01.17 - Airlink recently announced that it will start flying between Pietermaritzburg and Cape Town. The first flight will take off on the 6th of February 2017. The airline will be offering a daily service. Flight SA8721 will depart Pietermaritzburg at 07h00 and arrive at 09h10 in Cape Town. The return flight, SA8724, will depart Cape Town at 17h35 and arrive at 19h30 in Pietermaritzburg.
- 20.01.15 - SA Airlink will once again start flying between Nosy Be in Madagascar and Johannesburg (OR Tambo) from the 20th of March 2016. The airline will only operate one return flight a week on this route. The flight will depart Johannesburg on Sundays at 09h30 and the return flight will land back in Johannesburg at 18h45.
- 05.10.15 - Airlink has announced that they will start flying between Cape Town and Maun, Botswana, from the 11th of March 2016. Flights will depart Cape Town for Maun at 10h35 while the return flight will depart Maun at 13h35 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The airline is already flying to Maun and Kasane in Botswana from Johannesburg. The new route will connect two of Southern Africa’s most popular tourist destinations, Cape Town and the Okavango Delta, with each other.
- 07.09.15 - Last month, SA Airlink commenced flights between Cape Town and Pretoria. With approximately 11 scheduled flights per week, this is the only passenger service from the Pretoria Airport.
Airlink offers flights to smaller towns and regional centres, including: Port Elizabeth, Durban, East London, Bloemfontein and George.
Airlink also serves a range of international destinations, including: Cairo, Dubai, Windhoek, Dar es Salaam, Addis Ababa and Accra.

The general free allowance on SAA Airlink flights is 20 kg in Economy Class and 30 kg in Business Class.
- If passage is between Johannesburg and Harare/Bulawayo/Lusaka/Ndola where an allowance of 30 kg in Economy Class and 40 kg in Business class applies.
- If you are flying on a single-contract/interline no-stop ticket connecting with an SAA Regional or International flight where the baggage allowance will be stated on your ticket.
- If you are a South African Airways Voyager card holder additional free baggage allowances apply.
Each passenger may carry hand baggage suitable for placement in the overhead rack or under their seat. The maximum dimensions for one piece carry on baggage are L52cm x H40cm x W23cm. The maximum weight is 8 kg.
Seats are allocated at check-in on a first come, first serve basis. Pre-allocation of seats is not possible.
For domestic flights, travellers are required to attend 1 hour and 30 minutes before departure. For International/regional flights, travellers are required to attend 2 hours before departure.
